The Warriors' Den « Thread Started on Aug 30, 2009, 3:38pm »
Snowlynx sat up, blinking the sleep from his blue eyes as he looked around the familiar sleeping place. Being deputy, his nest was in the direct center of the den, the warmest spot, and the tom had had a wonderful night. Hunting all day and hunting all night, and vague shadowy she-cats sliding in and out of focus... The white deputy didn't much feel like moving, it was still early, and no one would be about yet, except maybe Firekit. Looking around lazily for something to do, Snowlynx spotted some moss clinging to his long pelt, and gave himself a vigorous and thorough washing.
By this time, the sun had almost completely risen above the horizon, and its red dawn light was spilling into the warriors' den. The others would be stirring soon, and Snowlynx had a fancy to take out a border patrol today, to FireClan. There were funny rumors going around the past few sunrises... His sky-blue eyes landed on Pantherfang, a pretty golden she-cat who had recently joined AirClan. Perhaps she could come with him, he could show her the territory.
Afterwards, perhaps Firekit would enjoy learning some basic fighting moves. Who was he kidding, of course the ginger tomkit would! He was probably close to becoming an apprentice, maybe even Snowlynx's own! The white tom hadn't had one in a while, but AirClan was growing these days, though there were no new kits. The deputy was probably the only tom in camp besides Firekit, and that was somewhat scary... However, if Snowlynx had to take a mate for convenience instead of love, he would, because AirClan meant more to him than almost anything.
Snowlynx sat in his nest for a while, thinking about she-cats, his thought of cleaning out the bedding completely forgotten. There was lakestar, and a leader's and deputy's children would boviously become great cats in their own right. And there was pantherfang, and she seemed nice. And pretty. Suddenly, Snowlynx caught himself, and nearly laughed out loud. Deputies didn't go around thinking about girls, they had more important things to do! Besides, the longhaired tom trusted in SkyClan to show him who he was meant for in the end. With that, the blue-eyed deputy padded outside, a smile on his face.

Pantherfang blinked slowley and groaned. She never liked waking up. Pantherfang swiped her toung over her paw drowsily and layed her head down on her mossy beading. Her ears pricked when she had the feeling someone was watching her. Pantherfang turned her golden head and laid her violet-blue eeys on Snowlynx, the airclan deputy. She smiled at the black and white warrior and blushed slightly. Pantherfang quickly turned her head and stared at the mossy wall. She shouldn't be staring at a cat all day. She was the toughest rouge out of all of them and she didn't have time to think about love. She never wanted anybody to knoiw about her secret but shook her head. Someone had probably figured it out already.
Pantherfang licked her stringy golden pelt and sighed. I can't belive I'm acting so mousebrained!! I cant go around staring at him all day! I have things to do. Places to go! Pantherfang rolled over on her back and licked her belly fur with caution. She stopped and looked up at the sky. It was sunrise and she almost always got up then so Pantherfang stood up and stretched her legs. She cautiously stepped over a couple of sleeping cats and leaped over Snowlynx. She shot him an affectionate look and padded out into the sunbathed camp.

Snowlynx purred quietly to himself as Pantherfang watched him watching her. He noticed the she-cat blush, but pretended he hadn't seen. He didn't want her to feel uncomfortable or anything. Not knowing what else to do, and feeling slightly foolish for just sitting around staring at Pantherfang, the white deputy got up and padded outside with his customary long strides born of walking atop snow. The tom lifted his nose to the sky and felt the cool morning air. Soon, his favorite time of year would be upon the Clans- Leafbare. Or as rogues called it, winter. Most other cats hated this season for its cold, lack of prey, and bad weather, but Snowlynx was perfectly at home. And because of his knowledge, AirClan would keep warm with the special way of making nests he'd created; and as long as he could walk atop snow, they would never go hungry!
Hearing pawsteps behind him, the longhaired tom turned and saw Pantherfang flash him an affectionate glance as she, too, left the warriors' den. On second thought, maybe it could stay Greenleaf for a while longer. Her golden fur was short and wouldn't be much protection against the whirling, blinding snowfalls this area sometimes received. Would she think he was weird for loving winter? Well, it would be pretty stupid for him to keep milling about camp as if no one else was up, so Snowlynx meowed a good morning to her, then added in what he hoped was a casual voice, "Hey, wanna go on a border patrol with me in a bit? Nobody's been over to FireClan in a week, and I've been hearing some weird stuff." The blue-eyed deputy hooked a sparrow on his claws, tossed it into the air, and caught it deftly in his jaws. He laid it at the golden warrior's paws and meowed, "Want to share?"

Pantherfang stopped and heard Snowlynk talking to her. She smiled at the tom and mewed. "Morning." She padded closer toward him and licked her chest fur. "Sure, I'd like to see Fireclan. Lets just hope it's warmer than here!" Pantherfang joked. "Man I feel frozen." Pantherfang hissed. She smirked at him when he cuaght the sparrow quickly. She snorted. "Is that all you got?" Seh asked not trying to hurt his feelings. She trekked passed him feeling her tail touch his fur. Pantherfang's fur stood on end. She grabbed her tail and blushed again. "Watch this."
Pantherfang dropped into a hunter's crouch and eyed a chickadee in the top of the tree in front of the warrior's den. Her tail lashed back and forth. Pantherfang squinted and lunged for the bird. She leaped into the tree in a single bound and killed the bird with a slash. She grasped the bird in her mouth and dropped it in front of the airclan deputy. Pantherfang smiled at him. "I learned it as a rouge. We saw most of the territories but for some reason we never even dared to go neer Fireclan." Pantherfang mewed softly. She sighed and looked at the sparrow. Pantherfang fealt her mouth water. "Lemme put the chickadee back in the pile first." Pantherfang meowed sprinting toward the fresh kill pile. She hesitantly dropped the chickadee and raced back to the warrior's den.
Pantherfang huddled next to Snowlynx. She rubbed on him, feeling sorta embarresed. Pantherfang never liked leaf-bare. She knew soon it would be here. She had very little fur and she remembered when she was a kit and got frostbite. Pantherfang blushed, her ears drooping. "Ok I'll share but can we eat it in the warrior's den? I'll melt if we eat it out in this weather!" Pantherfang mewed softly padding back into the den and lid down next to the ebony and white deputy's nest. She huddled next to the cool moss and sighed. She hoped he'd start to like her.

Snowlynx watched appreciatively as pantherfang deftly caught and killed a chickadee in barely any heartbetas at all. "Wow, you're good, even for a rogue," he meowed as she dropped it in the fresh-kill pile. "I used to be a rogue myself." He shrugged, hoping she wasn't going to ask why he'd joined AirClan instead. He really couldn't answer that one himself. His heart had just been...empty. Lonely. Echoing inside with a need for other cats around him.
He settled down to eat beside her, enjoying the closeness of their pelts. It made his own feel like he'd just been shocked, and the white tom hoped his tail wasn't puffed up. That would be major embarrassing. He finished and sat back, rasping his tongue around his muzzle to clean up. "Never been near FireClan, eh?" he replied somewhat belatedly. "Well, there's a first time for everything. Speaking of which, bet you've never been beaten by a Clan warrior, hm?" Snowlynx laughed, suddenly throwing a paw out and nicking Pantherfang's ears lightly with the very tips of his claws. He grinned at her reaction, blue eyes as bright and clear as the sky above.
